What is Calcium iodate

Calcium iodate is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula Ca(IO3)2. It is a white crystalline powder and is mainly used as a deodorant, medicine and food additive.

Insoluble in water and ethanol.
Decomposes in nitric acid and hydrochloric acid solutions.
Completely decomposed in oxalic acid solution.
It is insoluble in sulfuric acid, but when heated with dilute sulfuric acid, most of it is converted into calcium sulfate and iodic acid.
As a source of iodine for food and feed additives.
Non-hygroscopic and has good chemical stability.
